Thank you for all of your support in organising our whole school science day at Birkbeck Primary school. It was fantastic, the children loved all the activities and the leaders were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their topics. The children haven’t experienced a science company coming into the school before so it was really lovely to see their excitement and for them to learn in another environment. Year 6 were particularly fortunate as without your visit, they would not have had the opportunity to dissect a heart in primary school. I observed a few minutes of one of the Y6 sessions and the knowledge that they were being taught and then being able to explore was incredible, a lesson I am sure they will remember for the rest of their lives.
It was great how the sessions were structured, with teacher-led models, guided pupil tasks and independent exploration. This ensured that the children had secured the science learning before learning through inquiry.
